Privacy Policy
In short: CapyGuard runs inside your browser. It has no accounts, does no tracking or analytics, and never sells, shares or uploads your browsing or wallet data.
What stays on your device
- Your settings, Safelist, saved links, stashed tabs and activity history.
- The frontend fingerprints of trusted sites (which script sources they load), used to spot hacked websites.
- Simple counts of what was blocked. None of these are ever sent anywhere.
What CapyGuard never collects
- Recovery phrases, private keys or passwords. The recovery phrase guard spots the pattern and blocks it, but never saves or sends what you type.
- Your wallet addresses, balances or transactions.
- Your browsing history.
What CapyGuard downloads
To stay up to date, the extension downloads public lists: known scam websites (from MetaMask's and DefiLlama's open lists) and the CapyGuard team's lists of verified sites, scam sites, contract addresses and drainer addresses. These are plain downloads. Nothing about you or the pages you visit goes with them.
Why CapyGuard asks for each permission
Read and change data on all websites
CapyGuard has to check every page you open for scam sites, fake recovery phrase forms and risky wallet requests. Scams can be on any website, so it can't be limited to a short list.
Storage
Keeps your settings, Safelist, saved links, stashed tabs, activity history and the scam lists on your device.
Tabs
Reads the address of your current tab for the safety check, and powers Stash, My Saved Links and Duplicate Browsing Tabs.
Web navigation
Checks a website before it loads, so a scam page can be stopped before it shows anything.
Alarms
Refreshes the scam lists about every 12 hours. You can turn this off in Settings.
Block content on pages (declarativeNetRequest)
When a page asks for your recovery phrase, CapyGuard cuts that one tab off from sending anything out until you leave or unlock it.
Unlimited storage
The public scam lists are large. This lets them be saved on your device instead of downloaded again every time.
Your choices
You can switch each protection on or off in the extension's Settings, clear your activity history from the manager page, or remove the extension at any time. Removing it deletes everything it saved.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
